Blog is short for 'weblog' which is a kind of diary or journal kept on the World Wide Web.
Problogger, quoting Wikipedia, says ‘A blog is a website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order. The term blog is a shortened form of weblog or web log. Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called “blogging”. Individual articles on a blog are called “blog posts,” “posts” or “entries”. A person who posts these entries is called a “blogger”. '
Blogs are useful tools for people in business. They are part of the social media revolution which has changed the way we relate to our clients. Today it is important to encourage conversation with your clients and potential clients so that you can build up a relationship with them. That makes sense, doesn' it? After all, who would you rather buy from - someone you know or someone you don't?
Blogs are also very appealing to search engines which trawl the web looking for fresh content to list. The more fresh content your website has the more the search engines will be drawn to it and the more often you will show in the listings. That means that your business has a greater chance to be found online when potential clients come searching.

How can you make the best use of a blog? Add it to your website. Personally, I think that you should host your own blog using Wordpress installed on your site. Blog platforms like Typepad and Blogger are great but they sit apart from your site. If that is where all your fresh content is then the links will be going to them and not your site. It is a round about way of bringing traffic to you, isn't it? I would rather have people directed straight to my website.
